Soil investigation
Anyone applying for an environmental permit for a house or business premises may be required to have a soil investigation carried out. This also applies if, for example, you want to carry out major excavation work in the ground.
How does it work?
When is soil investigation required?
You may encounter soil investigation in the following ways:
- when applying for an environmental permit;
- in the event of the purchase or sale of land, or when entering into or terminating long-term lease agreements or rental agreements;
- when you are going to move soil;
- when you receive a search warrant. You may receive one if there are well-founded reasons to believe that there is soil contamination on your property.
Who conducts soil surveys?
In most cases, the owner of the land must arrange the investigation themselves. Companies that conduct soil research can be found, for example, in the Yellow Pages under the heading soil research or environmental research. Request several quotes without obligation, because prices may vary. Please note that companies that carry out soil research may only carry out activities relating to the soil if they have recognition in the form of a certificate or accreditation.
How much does it cost?
The costs for assessing a soil investigation can be found in the fee bylaw.
