Global Goals
The Global Goals, or Sustainable Development Goals, are 17 goals set by the United Nations. The goals are aimed at working together to ensure that our world becomes healthier, more just and more sustainable. In Tytsjerksteradiel, we also feel responsible for tackling these global challenges. That is why we are a Global Goals municipality.

Global Goals: how do we do it?
We want to contribute to a fair and sustainable world. We do this far away, for example by using Fairtrade coffee and tea, but especially in that part of the world where we, as a municipality, are responsible for good governance and a good living environment for our residents. We do this, for example, by focusing on sustainability, equal opportunities, good education, poverty reduction policies, providing information on, for example, waste separation, being economical with our landscape and focusing on the well-being of our residents.

We fly the Global Goals flag on the annual Global Goals Day in September. This shows that we value these goals highly and want to contribute to them. Last time, we also gave all primary schools in our municipality a book about Global Goals.
Together contributing
Not only we, but also residents, companies, and organizations are working on the Global Goals. Sometimes very deliberately, and sometimes you may not even realize that what you as a resident, company, or organization are doing contributes to the Global Goals, because you are doing something that makes the world a little better in economic, ecological, or social terms.
