Global Goals
The Global Goals, or Sustainable Development Goals, are 17 goals established by the United Nations. The goals aim to work together to ensure that our world becomes healthier, more just and sustainable. In Tytsjerksteradiel, too, we feel responsible for addressing these global challenges. That is why we are Global Goals municipality.

Global Goals: how do we do it?
We want to contribute to a fair and sustainable world. We do that far away, for example by using Fairtrade coffee and tea, but especially on that part of the earth where we as a municipality are responsible for good governance and a good living environment for our residents. We do this, for example, by focusing on sustainability, equal opportunities, good education, poverty policy, providing information on, for example, waste separation, taking care of our landscape and focusing on the welfare of our residents.

On the annual Global Goals Day in September, we hang out the Global Goals flag. This shows that we hold these goals in high regard and want to contribute to them. Last time, we also gave all the elementary schools in our municipality a book about Global Goals.
Doing our part together
Not only us, but residents, businesses and organizations are also working on the Global Goals. Sometimes very deliberately and sometimes you may not even realize that what you are doing as a resident, company or organization is contributing to the Global Goals, because you are doing something that makes the world a little better economically, environmentally or socially.
