Postal address

If you do not have a permanent residential address in the Netherlands, you can temporarily register at the address of someone else or an institution. This is called a postal address. You will then receive your mail at this address from now on. You can apply for this postal address at the municipality.

How does it work?

A correspondence address must always be an address in the Netherlands and cannot be a post office box.

The person or institution registered at the postal address is called the postal address provider. The postal address provider must ensure that you receive your mail from the government. For example:

  • Letters;
  • Tax forms;
  • A voting pass;
  • A summons.

  • You can request a postal address from the municipality of the postal address provider. Please indicate why you want a postal address.
  • If the municipality agrees, you will receive all mail from the municipality and other government agencies at this correspondence address.
  • Make sure you also provide your mailing address to other organizations.

Make an appointment for this by calling 14 0511 (without area code).
