Mrs. Tineke Schokker-Strampel has been the acting mayor of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel since March 4, 2025. The mayor is the chairman of the municipal council and the board of mayor and aldermen. The mayor is the face of the municipality. An important part of the mayor's portfolio is the maintenance of public order and safety. The mayor presents awards on behalf of the Crown. Furthermore, the mayor maintains contacts with administrators in the province in Leeuwarden, in the region, the Northern Netherlands and the national government in The Hague.
