Kanter Breuker has been mayor of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel since January 14, 2026. As mayor, he is chair of both the municipal council and the mayor and aldermen's executive committee. The mayor is the face of the municipality.
An important responsibility within his portfolio is maintaining public order and safety. He also presents awards on behalf of the Crown. In addition, the mayor maintains close contact with administrators in the province of Fryslân, partners in the region and the northern Netherlands, and with the national government in The Hague.
