First aid for financial worries

Asking for help with financial worries isn't always easy. That's why we collaborate with housing associations, health insurers, and energy and water suppliers. As of January 1, 2021, these organizations are required to report payment arrears to the municipality. This is stipulated in the Municipal Debt Assistance Act. The municipality is working together with KEaRN Amargi on the approach 'First Aid for Financial Worries'.

First aid for financial worries

After a signal about your payment arrears, an employee from the First Aid for Financial Problems team will contact you to offer assistance. You may also receive a letter asking you to contact us. If we are unable to contact you and your arrears are high, an employee will visit you at home. If we do not find you at home, we will leave a card in your mailbox with our contact details and a request to contact us for assistance.

What happens when you contact us?

Together with you, a member of the First Aid for Financial Worries team will discuss what is going on and how we can help you. What we do exactly depends on your situation and what you need. You decide whether you want to use this offer. The help is free.

For example:

  • Providing insight into your income and expenditure;
  • Creating overview and order in your mail and outstanding invoices;
  • Deploying appropriate assistance;
  • We can check if you can save money via the 'That applies to me' website, for example, by making use of allowances or schemes.

Would you like to request help yourself to solve your financial worries?

Please contact KEaRN Amargi or the local support team.
