Identity document (lending) is punishable by law
Anyone caught gets a criminal record. It also causes problems when applying for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), which is required for an internship or job. In addition, the young person cannot get a passport for the time being, which makes going on vacation a lot more difficult. Moreover, the fine is not insignificant: community service or a sum of money starting at 140 euros. The message is clear: borrowing or lending ID is punishable.
Identity fraud
Since the age for selling alcohol went from 16 to 18, there have been signs that identity fraud, including in nightlife, is on the rise. An NOS survey in 2019 shows that half of the young people surveyed have occasionally gone out with an ID with a false date of birth. Moreover, many young people have gone out on occasion with someone else's ID proof. Many of the youth who go out with a fake ID or that of someone else do so with their parents' knowledge.
What is the penalty if you forge your ID card?
You may not lend your ID card to someone else. This is because an ID card is personal. If you do, you are committing identity fraud and this is punishable. The penalty for this if it comes out is different. The exact fine at this time can be found in the fine database of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
