Sewer connection request

The municipality provides the sewer connection from the public sewerage system to the property boundary of private property. If your home or business is not connected to the sewerage system, you will request a connection from the municipality.

Apply for sewer connection

How does it work?

A new connection consists of:

  • Laying a connecting pipe (from the main sewer to the plot boundary);
  • The installation of an unblocked drain on private property. The unblocked drain will be approximately 0.5 m behind the property boundary on your own property.

A new connection is always constructed by or on behalf of the municipality. The private sewer (from the house to the unblocked manhole) must be laid by and at the expense of the owner. Connecting to the main sewer can only be done when the private sewer has been constructed. With the permit, the applicant will receive information about the main sewer (drawing and elevation measurements). Then, after telephone contact with the municipality, the connecting pipe with the unblocked manhole will be laid.

If your home is or has been connected to the sewer system, your sewer connection must comply with the building code and the municipality's implementation policy.

There are two types of sewer connections: combined systems and separate systems. If you have a separated system, you need a double connection, for the disposal of both dirty water and rainwater.

Contact by phone

In order to make a new connection, you need prior approval from the municipality. Please call first to discuss in advance how everything works around your application. Call phone number 14 0511 and ask for Brita van der Woude or Lykele Westerhof.

Requesting digitally

Apply for your sewer connection using the online form.

After your application has been reviewed and there are no impediments to connecting your structure to the main sewer, you will receive a written permission from us including information on the location and elevation dimensions of the main sewer. Based on this information, you can construct (or have constructed) the private connection section. As soon as this part can be connected to the main sewer, you can report this to the Building and Living Desk.

Explanation of costs (one-time connection fee for laying the connection line)

In the following situations, for the construction of the connection line by the municipality, you will owe construction fees:

  • when connecting an existing structure to an existing main sewer when it appears that the main sewer was constructed before the construction of the structure in question;
  • When connecting a new structure to an existing sewer;
  • When constructing an additional (second) connecting pipeline.

Special situations/costs

  • If an owner of a structure already connected to the main sewer requests an additional (2nd) house connection, the actual construction costs and repair costs of the asphalt (if applicable) will be charged.
  • In the case of a non-standard connection, for example, under asphalt, pressing or directional drilling (trenchless technique, where the road pavement is not broken up) or other situations that differ greatly from the standard situation, the actual costs will be charged.
  • In case of pressure sewers: If the domestic wastewater has to be discharged by means of a pumping station (e.g. in a pressure sewerage area / or because of the altitude of the plot) then these costs are for the applicant who will be budgeted in advance. Final settlement takes place on the basis of subsequent calculation.

What does it cost?

Standard connection pipe to free-fall sewer (2025)

  • Standard rate construction costs (plot boundary - ((main) sewer) up to 5.0 meters: € 741.70 (excl. VAT)
  • Surcharge per linear meter of additional connecting pipe: € 61.50 (excl. VAT)

For different diameter (> 125mm), an additional charge will be made.

In "special situations," actual costs will be charged. Special situations/costs:

  • If an owner of a structure already connected to the main sewer requests an additional (2nd) house connection, the actual construction costs and repair costs of the asphalt (if applicable) will be charged.
  • In the case of a non-standard connection, for example, under asphalt, pressing or directional drilling (trenchless technique, where the road pavement is not broken up) or other situations that differ greatly from the standard situation, the actual costs will be charged.
  • In the case of pressure sewers: if the domestic wastewater must be disposed of using a pumping station (for example, in a pressure sewerage area / or in connection with elevation of plot) then these costs are for the applicant who will be budgeted in advance. Final settlement takes place on the basis of subsequent calculation.
