Apply for a sewer connection
The municipality provides the sewer connection from the public sewer to the property line of private property. If your home or business is not connected to the sewer, you can apply for a connection from the municipality.
How does it work?
A new connection consists of:
- Laying a connection pipe (from the main sewer to the property boundary);
- installing an inspection pit on private property. The inspection piece will be located approximately 0.5 m behind the property line on your own property.
A new connection is always installed by or on behalf of the municipality. The private sewer (from the house to the inspection pit) must be installed by and at the expense of the owner. Connection to the main sewer is only possible when the private sewer has been installed. With the permit, the applicant receives information about the main sewer (drawing and elevation). After telephone contact with the municipality, the connection pipe with the inspection pit will be installed.
If your home is being or has been connected to the sewage system, your sewer connection must comply with the building decree and the implementation policy of the municipality.
There are two types of sewer connections: combined systems and separate systems. If you have a separate system, you need a double connection for the drainage of both the wastewater and the rainwater.
Contact by telephone
To realize a new connection, you need permission from the municipality in advance. Please call first to discuss how everything works regarding your application. Call telephone number 14 0511 and ask for Brita van der Woude or Lykele Westerhof.
Apply digitally
Apply for your sewer connection using the online form.
After your application has been reviewed and there are no obstacles to connecting your building to the main sewer, you will receive written permission from us, including information about the location and elevation of the main sewer. Based on this information, you can have the private connection section installed. As soon as this section can be connected to the main sewer, you can report this to the Building and Living counter.
Explanation of the costs (one-off connection fee for the construction of the connection pipe)
In the following situations, you will owe connection costs for the construction of the connection pipe by the municipality:
- when connecting an existing building to an existing main sewer, if it appears that the main sewer was constructed for the construction of the building in question;
- when connecting a new building to an existing sewer;
- when installing an additional (second) connection pipe.
Special situations/costs
- If an owner of a building that is already connected to the main sewer requests an additional (second) connection to the house, the actual construction costs and repair costs of the asphalt (if applicable) will be charged.
- For a non-standard connection, for example under asphalt, pressing or guided drilling (trenchless technique, where the road surface is not broken up) or other situations that deviate greatly from the standard situation, the actual costs will be charged.
- In the case of pressure sewerage: If domestic wastewater needs to be discharged using a pumping station (for example, in a pressure sewerage area or due to the elevation of the plot), these costs are for the applicant and are estimated in advance. Final settlement takes place based on post-calculation.
How much does it cost?
Standard connection pipe on free-fall sewer (2025)
- Standard rate for construction costs (property line - ((main) sewer) up to 5.0 meters: € 741.70 (excluding VAT)
- Additional cost per linear meter of extra connection pipe: €61.50 (excluding VAT)
A surcharge will be applied for deviating diameters ( > 125mm).
In "special situations," actual costs will be charged. Special situations/costs:
- If an owner of a structure that is already connected to the main sewer requests an additional (2nd) house connection, the actual construction and repair costs of the asphalt (if applicable) will be charged.
