Over 300 students from Tytsjerksteradiel take traffic exam

This week more than 300 pupils from groups 7 and 8 of elementary school in the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel took part in the national traffic exam. Among them also the enthusiastic pupils of elementary school Thrimwalda in Gytsjerk. Alderman Tytsy Willemsma gave the starting signal here today: "Hjoed litte jim sjen dat jim klear binne om feilich oan it ferkear diel nimmen. In protte sukses!"

Visibility first

To increase the safety and visibility of the young traffic participants, all children received distinctive traffic badges. "We want all bern feilich de dyk op kinne. Troch harren goed ta rieden en sichtber te wêzen yn it ferkear, sette wy mei-inoar in moaie stap nei in feilich Tytsjerksteradiel," said Alderman Willemsma.

Gaining practical experience

During the exam, the students cycled a specially plotted route through the municipality. Along the way, they encountered various traffic situations where they had to demonstrate their mastery of the rules: Who has the right of way? How do you cross the road safely? How do you cycle across a traffic circle? The traffic exam is an important part of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel's traffic education program. Through this program, children learn step-by-step how to participate safely and independently in traffic, a skill that will be useful throughout their lives. With the traffic diploma in their pocket, they can now confidently and safely go out on their own.
