Are you receiving welfare benefits? Then you can get help with:
- finding (volunteer) work, internship or work experience placement
- further training or retraining
Here we always look together at what is maximally feasible for you. And in consultation with your contact person we can see if one of the following (re)training or work projects is something for you.
Take training through Fryslân Werkt
Fryslân Werkt helps job-seekers on benefits find suitable jobs. They also offer training, for example in technology, ICT and healthcare.

Metal Project Scholarship
In Drogeham they are working on the restoration of a barge. People with a distance to the labor market or people who want another job are gaining work experience and doing welding training here. Welders are currently in high demand, so the job opportunity after (or sometimes already during) the welding training is great. The NOS made a video about this project.
Work experience position
Would you like to get back to work in metalworking, or are you curious whether work in metalworking suits you? Then perhaps a work experience placement on the barge is something for you. Together with a group of other interested people you will work on refurbishing this beautiful barge. The number of hours and days is negotiable and we look at what suits you.
You will learn all about metalworking, riveting and finishing metal. If necessary, it is possible to obtain a practical certificate in metalworking. You also have the option of taking welding training during your work experience placement.
Welding training
Welding training is provided by a welding institute at the turnpike that is recognized by the NIL (Dutch Institute for Welding Technology). Thus, everything you learn can also be practiced in practice. There are ample opportunities to master all welding disciplines. You do the welding training at your own pace. You can complete it with a nationally recognized welding diploma from the NIL. After obtaining a welding diploma, we will work with you to find an employer that suits you.
Trial weld
Wondering if welding is for you? Every Monday, Tuesday or Friday you can take a test weld without any obligation.
So feel free to stop by and experience without obligation if Project Beurtschip is for you. If it is something for you, you can choose between participating in the restoration of the Beurtschip, obtaining a welding diploma, or both. All at your own pace.

Kruidhof construction project
The Kruidhof Hortus of Fryslân in Buitenpost is expanding its grounds with a shed. In cooperation with the municipality, this will be turned into a work experience program. Under supervision and in consultation with your contact person, you can gain work experience in construction here.
