Campaign against online recruiting at the Singelland in Burgum
The municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, together with students from NHL/Stenden, is launching a campaign this week about the dangers of recruiting young people online. There is also a focus on the influence of social media on their behavior.
Online recruiting, including in Tytsjerksteradiel.
Young people are on platforms like Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok a lot. This is where not only fun trends emerge, but also risks. Nationally, there is increasing attention to online recruiting: young people are more often asked via social media to do criminal jobs. This is also happening in Tytsjerksteradiel.
Helping students with research and education
Students from NHL/Stenden are present at the Singelland in Burgum for a week. They engage in conversation with students and teachers, provide information and investigate which risks young people encounter online. By being present at school for a week, the threshold to start a conversation is low. The campaign helps young people to recognize signals, remain critical and know where to get help if something online does not feel right. Mayor Tineke Schokker: "I think it is important that young people are critical of their online behavior. That is an important part of a safe environment. Mei dizze kampanje hoopje wy dêrby te helpen".
