Safety in carbide shooting

Safe conditions when shooting carbide are important. As the organizer, you are responsible for making sure the carbide shooting is safe. Therefore, we would like to look with you at what is and is not allowed and how we will handle it on New Year's Eve.

Rules for carbide shooting

The rules for carbide shooting are as follows:

  • Carbide shooting is only allowed on New Year's Eve from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Only 1 or more (milk) cans or similar objects with a maximum capacity of 40 liters may be used. In them you use acetylene gas that is created when you mix calcium carbide (carbide) with water. Other gas mixtures with the same properties are also allowed.
  • The site where the shooting takes place must be at least 75 meters away from residential buildings and at least 300 meters away from animal shelters.
  • You must also have written permission from the owner of the property;
  • Indicate the firing direction on the relevant location on a map.

We recommend using balls instead of lids. We assess whether the area on which you are going to shoot carbide is suitable. If it is, you will be given permission to shoot carbide.

Personal responsibility

You remain personally responsible for shooting carbide. You are also responsible for any damage to third parties.
