The Neighborhood Benches, a place for everyone!

Do you already know the Neighborhood Benches? These are the benches where suddenly something nice can happen: a chat with the neighbor, a nice cup of coffee with someone you did not know yet, just in your own neighborhood! As part of the Week against Loneliness (September 25-October 1), the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, together with Stichting De Buurt (The Neighborhood Foundation), is giving away 5 Neighborhood Benches to enthusiastic Neighborhood Makers - local residents, associations or initiatives who want to make their neighborhoods a little more cozy.

Everyone needs contact. Feeling welcome, belonging somewhere, laughing together or just having a chat - such moments seem small but are of great value. Because people who feel connected to others feel healthier, happier and less alone. But that doesn't always happen by itself.

You can make a difference in that! Become a community organizer! A Buurtmaker is a local resident, association or initiative who wants to make his or her own neighborhood a little cozier. A BuurtBankje is the meeting place for spontaneous conversations, new friendships and good coffee, very accessible and in your own neighborhood! 

You can sign up until Sept. 1. Remember to coordinate the arrival of a bench with local residents.
