You have a sortibak (grey or black container) at home or you use an underground residual waste container.

What goes in the recycling container?

Below you can see what types of waste these are:

  • Household residual waste
  • ashes
  • Plastics, metals and beverage cartons

You can hand in bags of household waste free of charge at the Milieustraat, Mr. W.M. Oppedijk van Veenweg 10, 9251 GA Burgum.

You do not need an extra container for plastics, metals and beverage cartons (PMD). The municipality takes the waste to Omrin. Omrin uses post-separation to extract the plastics, metals and beverage cartons from the household residual waste.

For more information about post-separation of waste from the sorting bin, please visit the Omrin website.

When is the 'sortibak' emptied?

You can read this in the Omrin Waste App; download the Waste App for this purpose.

Or check the waste calendar page on our website.

Has your recycling bin not been completely emptied?

Due to frost, for example, material may stick to the bottom of the container. Our advice is to first put a newspaper at the bottom of the container. A small piece of wood between the lid prevents the container from sticking shut.

Tips for separating waste in the sorting container

Is your recycling bin full quickly every time? And do you barely make it to the next collection day? By separating waste, you save space in the recycling bin. With these tips, you can make sure you have more space left over.

Would you like more tips? Check out the flyer "Prevent waste and also go for a slim sortibak (sorting container)". You can find more tips on waste separation on the website of Milieu Centraal and Samen halen we er alles uit (Together we get everything out of it).

Still not enough space?

In some cases, you are eligible for an extra container. Go to Request a waste container or report a defect to read the conditions.
