Third edition of the drug decoy bus a success in Tytsjerksteradiel
From April 13 through 20, 2026, the drug detection bus visited the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel for the third time. Through this initiative, the municipality aims to raise residents’ awareness of the warning signs and risks associated with drug-related crime. The initiative was once again a success: residents scanned and reported incidents frequently. In doing so, residents demonstrated that they are vigilant and committed to safety in their community.
Two baiting methods: drug-baited boxes and drug dumping
During the campaign week, there were two locations throughout the municipality:
- A drug decoy
- A staged drug dumping involving IBC containers and barrels
Both locations had QR codes on display. Residents could scan them to submit their reports. By doing so, they had a chance to win a gift card.
The campaign has been deliberately designed to be accessible, so that residents can easily learn how to recognize and report suspicious situations.
A consistent focus on experience
The municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel believes it is important to continue raising awareness about disruptive criminal activity, such as drug trafficking and illegal drug dumping. By repeating this initiative on a regular basis, awareness among residents is increased and their willingness to report such incidents is encouraged.
Mayor Kanter Breuker:“We want a safe Tytsjerksteradiel for all of us. That is why it is important for residents to be vigilant and report suspicious situations. Through this initiative, we see that people feel responsible for their own surroundings, and that makes me proud.”
Report suspicious situations
The municipality is urging residents to always report suspicious situations:
- Emergency: 112
- Non-emergency: 0900 – 8844
- Anonymous: Report a crime anonymously by calling 0800-7000 or visiting www.meldmisdaadanoniem.nl or .
