Village associations, village halls and village visions

The Federation of Village Halls Tytsjerksteradiel Foundation, IJpeijsingel 3, 9256 HH Ryptsjerk, represents the village halls in the municipality. Almost all of the 17 villages in the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel have their own website. The sites are built and maintained by the residents themselves:

Public participation and communication

The Associations for village interests and the municipality have made agreements about how they interact with each other. These agreements are laid down in the document 'De Wurkwizer'. The agreements concern the drafting, implementation and evaluation of policy, participation and communication. This document also describes the role and significance of the municipal village coordinator.

Village Visions

Local interest groups are responsible for drawing up a village vision. The municipality can assist in advance by providing data, key figures, policy notes, etc. When a village vision is presented to the Municipal Executive, a review process follows. The municipality's approach to village visions is described in the 'Rules of Procedure for Village Visions'.

Village coordinator

All villages regularly consult with the village coordinator. The most important tasks of the village coordinator are:  

• responsibility for the coordination between the municipal executive/municipal council and village interest groups;
• organizing and attending administrative consultations between the municipal executive and the village council boards and ensuring follow-up. In addition, the organization of an annual plenary consultation between the municipal executive and village council boards;
• the involvement of the village councils in municipal plans;
• consultation and feedback with portfolio holders, managers, other colleagues, and village interest groups;
• Drafting policy proposals aimed at optimising communication between village associations and the municipal government;
• handling of the annual financial compensation to village association boards;
• point of contact for the village interest groups.
