Village interests, village houses and village visions

The Stichting Federatie Dorpshuizen Tytsjerksteradiel, IJpeijsingel 3, 9256 HH Ryptsjerk represents the village houses in the municipality. Almost all of the 17 villages in the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel have their own websites. The sites are built and maintained by the residents themselves:

Participation and communication

The Associations for village interests and the municipality have made agreements on how they deal with each other. These agreements are recorded in the document "The Wurkwizer. The agreements concern the drafting, implementation and evaluation of policy, participation and communication. This document also describes the role and significance of the municipal village coordinator.

Village visions

Associations for village interests are themselves responsible for preparing a village vision. The municipality can be helpful in advance by providing data, key figures, policy notes, etc. When a Village Vision is presented to the Board, a handling process follows. How the municipality deals with village visions is described in 'Rules for village visions'.

Village Coordinator

All villages meet regularly with the village coordinator. The main duties of the village coordinator are:  

• responsibility for coordination between college/municipal council and village interest boards;
• Organizing and attending administrative consultations between college and village interest boards and ensuring their completion. In addition, organize an annual plenary meeting between college and village interest boards;
• Involving village interest boards in municipal plans;
• consultation and feedback with portfolio holders, executives, other colleagues and village interest boards;
• make policy proposals aimed at optimizing communication between village interests and municipal government;
• handling of annual financial compensation to village interest boards;
• point of contact for village interest boards.
