Oak processionary moth
The oak processionary caterpillar is active in the months of May, June and July. The caterpillar is increasingly spreading its distribution area further north. The oak processionary caterpillar has stinging hairs that can cause health problems for people and animals. It is therefore important to avoid and control the caterpillars. You can help by reporting sightings of the oak processionary caterpillar.
Caterpillars on municipal property will be removed by the municipality after a report is made.
If you find nests of the oak processionary caterpillar on your own property, the costs to have them removed are for your own account. You can find various companies on the internet that will remove these nests for you for a fee. The municipality does not remove the nests. Removal is not mandatory, by the way.
Have you spotted oak processionary caterpillars? Report it digitally via Fixi or by calling 14 0511.
