Energy Transition

Tytsjerksteradiel's ambition is to become energy neutral by 2040.

The energy transition is to combat climate change by reducing CO2 emissions within the municipality. This is through conservation and renewable energy generation.

With the flow ahead

We are using more and more power and generating more and more power ourselves. This requires a massive expansion of the power grid. We are facing the biggest rebuild ever and that may well cause problems. You can read more about grid congestion and feed-in problems at Met de stroom vooruit | Liander and in the Toolbox - the low-voltage grid for residents.

Energy transition survey results

Residents from Achtkarspelen and Tytsjerksteradiel think energy transition is important, but it must fit within the environment. That is an important conclusion from the survey on sustainability and living without natural gas. Are you curious about all the results? You can read it here: Outcomes survey energy transition.

Heat Vision

All municipalities in the Netherlands have beenRijksoverheid by theRijksoverheid developing a “Heat Vision.” This document outlines how they plan to manage the transition from natural gas to sustainable heat in their respective municipalities. You can read it here: the Heat Transition Vision, the Achtkarspelen-Tytsjerksteradiel Heat Vision, and the accompanying Heat Vision Infographic.

Natural gas-free

We are working with great enthusiasm to create a sustainable, green, and clean municipality. This is essential to ensure we can continue to live, work, and thrive here—for our next generation as well. We’re taking action to conserve energy and generate it sustainably. We’ll be heating our homes and buildings in different ways, without natural gas. We’re looking for feasible and affordable solutions. We’re doing this step by step, together with you! Denk involved Denk take action. Take energy into your own hands. Turn down the thermostat by one degree, see how you can properly insulate your home, ride your bike more often, and denk what your sustainable future will look like.

Natural gas-free Garyp

Garyp is going for 'duorsumens' and wants to become the first natural gas-free village in the Netherlands. The municipality and the Enerzjy Koöperaasje Garyp (EKG) are working together to get homes off natural gas. The project is part of the government program "Living Labs for Natural Gas-Free Neighborhoods. Learn more about this project here: Aardgasvrij Garyp.

Natural Gas-Free Neighborhoods (PAW) Program.

Through the Natural Gas-Free Neighborhoods Program ( ), the rijksoverheid, provinces, water boards, and municipalities are working together to provide municipalities and stakeholders with the best possible support in their efforts to become natural gas-free.

RES

In the national Climate Agreement, it was agreed that all municipalities in the Netherlands in thirty different regions will draw up a Regional Energy Strategy (RES). Tytsjerksteradiel belongs to the RES region Fryslân. The RES region of Fryslân deals with the issue of generating electricity from solar and wind energy on land.

Energy cooperatives

The municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel has the ambition to stop using natural gas in 2040. As a municipality, we cannot do this alone. Energy cooperatives and initiatives work together with residents on our sustainability ambition. You can read which ones these are in our municipality in the Energy Cooperatives overview.

Sinnetables

With the villages in the municipality we will work with the Solar Ladder. We choose the approach of Sinnetables. Together with residents, energy cooperatives and landscape architects, we examine what the energy demand per village is and how we can meet it sustainably.
