Energy Transition

Tytsjerksteradiel has the ambition to become energy neutral by 2040.

The energy transition should combat climate change by reducing CO2 emissions within the municipality. This will be achieved through conservation and the generation of sustainable energy.

Moving forward with energy

We are using more and more electricity and generating more and more electricity ourselves. This requires a massive expansion of the electricity grid. We are facing the biggest renovation ever, and that could cause problems. You can read more information about congestion on the electricity grid and feed-in problems on Met de stroom vooruit | Liander and in the Toolbox - het laagspanningsnet voor bewoners.

Results of the energy transition survey

Residents of Achtkarspelen and Tytsjerksteradiel consider the energy transition important, but it must fit within the environment. That is an important conclusion from the survey on sustainability and living without natural gas. Are you curious about all the results? You can read it here: Results of the energy transition survey.

Heat Strategy

All municipalities in the Netherlands have been commissioned by the national government to create a "Heat Vision". It describes how they will tackle the transition from natural gas to sustainable heat in their own municipality. You can read it here: the Heat Transition Vision, Achtkarspelen-Tytsjerksteradiel heat vision and the accompanying Infographic heat vision.

Natural gas-free

With energy, we are working towards a sustainable, green and clean municipality. This is necessary to continue to live, work and enjoy life. Also for our next generation. We will start saving energy and generating energy sustainably. We are going to heat our homes and buildings in other ways, without natural gas. We are looking for feasible and affordable ways. We do this step by step, together with you! Think and participate. Get started with energy. Turn down the heating a degree, see how you can insulate your home well, take the bike more often and think about the design of your sustainable future.

Natural gas-free Garyp

Garyp is committed to sustainability and aims to be the first natural gas-free village in the Netherlands. The municipality and the Enerzjy Koöperaasje Garyp (EKG) are working together to disconnect homes from natural gas. The project is part of the national program 'Proeftuinen voor Aardgasvrije Wijken' (Testing Grounds for Natural Gas-Free Neighborhoods). You can read more about this project here: Natural Gas-Free Garyp.

Area Natural Gas-Free Program (PAW)

In the Natural Gas-Free Neighborhoods Program, the national government, provinces, water boards, and municipalities are working together to best support municipalities and involved parties in the task of becoming natural gas-free.

RES

In the national Climate Agreement, it has been agreed that all municipalities in the Netherlands will draw up a Regional Energy Strategy (RES) in thirty different regions. Tytsjerksteradiel belongs to the RES region of Fryslân. The RES region of Fryslân is concerned with the issue of generating electricity from solar and wind energy on land.

Energy Cooperatives

The municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel has the ambition to no longer use natural gas in 2040. We cannot do this alone as a municipality. Energy cooperatives and initiatives work together with residents on our sustainability ambition. You can read which ones are in our municipality in the overview of Energy Cooperatives.

Solar tables

We will be working with the villages in the municipality on the Solar Ladder project. We are opting for the Sinnetafels approach. Together with residents, energy cooperatives and landscape architects, we are investigating the energy demand per village and how we can meet it sustainably.
