Holding municipality liable
If you have been damaged or injured and it is the fault of the municipality, you can hold the municipality liable. You do this by filing a claim for damages with the municipality.
Do you have damage caused by the municipality? Then you can hold the municipality liable for it. You must prove, for example through photographs, that the municipality did something wrong. Is that the case? Then you will be compensated for the damage.
How does it work?
Send the liability notice digitally using the online form.
You, or your attorney, may also choose to send a letter. This letter should include the following:
- What happened that caused one to be harmed?
- When did it happen? (date and time)
- Where did it happen?
- To what did damage occur? / What does the damage consist of?
- What are the costs to repair the damage
Enclose if possible:
- Photos of the damage;
- Photos of where the damage occurred;
- Map of where the damage occurred;
- Account(s) of the amount of damage and/or damage report(s);
- Witness statements (if available), or names of witnesses.
Send the letter to:
Municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel
PO Box 3 9250 AA Burgum
After we receive the online form or your letter, we will start working on it as soon as possible. Costs will be reimbursed if the municipality agrees with you that the damage came from municipal action or omission.
