Municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel and Liander join forces to expand the power grid

On Thursday, alderman Tytsy Willemsma signed a collaboration agreement with grid operator Liander for the expansion of the power grid in the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. Due to the growing demand for electricity – caused by factors such as electric vehicles, sustainable heating, and solar energy – the current grid needs to be adjusted and expanded. This collaboration marks the beginning of a multi-year project to future-proof the power grid.

In the coming years, the municipality and Liander will work intensively together on several major projects throughout the municipality. Alderman Willemsma on the collaboration: "We are pleased that together with Liander we can improve the electricity supply in our municipality. This is a great step for the future and quality of life in our villages."

Willeke van Dam, director of Large Work Packages at Liander: "This collaboration is very important to us. Together we have the social task of preparing the electricity grid in Tytsjerksteradiel for a sustainable future. This can only be achieved if the lines are short and we work well together. This agreement helps us with this."

NuLelie Expansion

The electricity grid in the municipality will be upgraded up to and including 2030. This is happening within the framework of the Liander NuLelie program, which ensures the transition to a more modern 20kV electricity grid. Both parties are committed to ensuring that all work runs smoothly and that residents and companies are informed in a timely manner through various channels.
