Legalize signature

If you need to prove that your signature on a document is really yours, you can have your signature legalized. You can arrange this at the municipality where you are registered. By legalization, we certify that it is your signature.

You legalize your signature in person at City Hall. Please make an appointment to do so. 

Note: Do not put your signature yet. You will only sign the document with us, in the presence of an official. 

When do I need to legalize my signature?

Legalizing a signature is often required: 

  • On documents to be sent abroad; 
  • if you give your consent to something, for example, if you are a guarantor for family or friends from abroad; 
  • If you want to settle an inheritance abroad. 

What does it cost?

Legalizing a signature costs €17.10.

What do I bring to the appointment?

Please bring the following with you to your appointment at City Hall:   

  • a valid ID; 
  • a bank card or cash; 
  • The document on which you wish to place your signature. 

How does it work?

You sign the document during the appointment, in the presence of an official. The official compares it with the signature on your identity document. Then the official signs the legalization statement on behalf of the mayor.

When will I receive the statement?

We legalize your signature right away. So you receive the document right away.
