High-voltage 380kV northern Netherlands connection
The government is having TenneT construct a new high-voltage transmission line (380 kV) between Vierverlaten and Ens. The proposed preferred route also runs through our municipality.

Why is it necessary?
A new high-voltage transmission line is needed because more and more (renewable) electricity is flowing into the Netherlands—for example, from offshore wind farms. In addition, electricity consumption is rising among households, industry, and vehicles. This places increasing demands on our national power grids.
Who is responsible?
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy is the commissioning authority. TenneT is the implementing party and is therefore also responsible for public outreach. The municipality has no official role in this project. However, we do express our views and advocate for the well-being of residents.
What symptoms do I notice, and what can I do?
TenneT is informing residents living near the preferred location of the new high-voltage transmission line and will keep them updated on developments.
