High-voltage 380kV northern Netherlands connection
Electricity is a basic necessity of life; we cannot live without it. In the coming years, the need for (sustainable) electricity will continue to increase. It is therefore important that we have and maintain a reliable electricity network with sufficient capacity for developments in supply and demand, now and in the future.
Therefore, new 380kV power lines are being constructed or planned in the Northern Netherlands.
Vierverlaten-Ens
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) and grid operator TenneT are exploring the construction of a new 380kV power line. It concerns the area between the high-voltage substations in Groningen (Vierverlaten) and the Noordoostpolder (Ens). The new connection is necessary for energy transition and to prevent future bottlenecks in the electricity grid. The coming years will see a sharp increase in the sustainable generation of electricity. So will the demand for electricity from households and businesses. More information can be found on Tennet's project page.
