MFA De Trochset festively opened in Jistrum
On Saturday, August 23, the long-awaited MFA in Jistrum was festively opened. The new MFA is an accessible location where the mienskip of all ages can go to learn, develop, play sports and meet each other. The building houses various associations and organizations: Bernemienskip De Greide, pre-school and child care, v.v. Jistrum, indoor sports clubs, music association Joost Wiersma, theater association the Snieskeppers, the PKN congregation and the youth box.
From idea to realization
The idea for an MFA in Jistrum has existed for ten years. Village residents Renee Storm, Gerrie Hoeksma and Djoke van der Veen came up with the first initiative back then. They saw that associations were struggling more and more and that there was a fragmentation of buildings. Their solution: join forces in one multifunctional building. In 2019, the plan became concrete with the start of a Village Development Society (DOM) project, in which the municipality and village work together on the livability and future-proofing of Jistrum.
Alderman Tytsy Willemsma on Saturday showed himself "grutsk" on the initiators, volunteers and everyone else involved: "Yn this hûs the mienskip comes by-inoar and is it gebou it klopjend hert fan jimme as ynwenners fan Jistrum."

Elementary school opening
For about 100 students from Jistrum and the surrounding area, Monday morning, August 25, was not only the start of a new school year, but also the start in a whole new school. Pupils from Bernemienskip De Greide had their own festive opening on Monday morning.
Festive opening during Bloom Week
The opening of the MFA is part of Bloeiweek (August 23 to 29) in Jistrum. Jistrum is one of 25 Frisian villages participating in Fryslân bloeit this year. With many activities by and for the village, they show in their Bloeiweek how they deal with climate, mienskip, health and nature in a sustainable way.
