Nature & Environment education for elementary schools

Pingo & Pet is the Nature and Environmental Education Center (NME) for the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. The center, named after characteristic landscape elements of the Noardlike Fryske Wâlden, is run by It Fryske Gea and is located at the information point on the Wiidswei in Earnewâld.

Pingo & Pet develops educational programs for primary school children (aged 4–12) on behalf of the municipality. The programs consist of excursions, guest lessons, backpack routes, and teaching kits. In addition, Pingo & Pet organizes annual events such as the Takomst foar in unyk lânskip teaching program, Tree Planting Day, and the Himmelwike. This allows children to learn about nature, the landscape, and sustainability in a playful way, with the aim of fostering respect for the environment and conscious choices for the future.
