Supervision and enforcement

The enforcers and supervisors of the Municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel work every day to ensure a safe, livable and clean municipality. They monitor public areas, businesses and residents. Together, we ensure that rules are obeyed and that our villages remain pleasant and safe places to live.

Duties of enforcers

The enforcement team consists of special investigating officers (boas) and supervisors.
Boas are sworn in, wear a boa insignia and have investigative powers. They may check identities, detect crimes and, in some cases, arrest individuals.

Examples of their work:

  • Enforce for improperly parked bicycles or vehicles.
  • Checking that waste is presented properly.
  • Educate residents on how to prevent burglary or car theft.
  • Act on public nuisances, such as noise or nuisance behavior.

The enforcers are regularly visible in the villages of our municipality.

Duties of supervisors

Supervisors primarily monitor businesses and individuals on issues such as:

  • Illegal construction or use of premises: does everything comply with the permit?
  • Conversions to rooms or apartments: are the proper permits in place?
  • Supervision of garage and car dealerships: are they operating according to environmental regulations?

In case of accidents or emergencies, such as a fire or gas leak, supervisors check for building safety and possible presence of asbestos. They take measures to prevent danger.

Report nuisance or unsafe situations?

Do you see something wrong or causing a nuisance? Report it to the municipality. For example:

  • Unsafe situations in public spaces
  • Youth or noise nuisance
  • Illegal construction
  • Parking nuisance from cars or bicycles
  • Clutter on the street

Reports come directly to us and are picked up by an enforcer or supervisor.

You can make your report through Fixi.
