Seniors kick off the new year in a sporty way with 'Triatlon foar Elkenien'

On Monday, twenty enthusiastic seniors embarked on a special challenge at De Wetterstins swimming pool in Burgum: the 'Triatlon foar Elkenien'. High Five Sportstimulering, the sports promotion team of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, organized the triathlon for residents aged 55 and older.

Keep moving in winter

Community sports coach Rianne Wiersma from High Five Sportstimulering explains why they offer a triathlon in winter: "We have noticed that older people find it more difficult to stay active in winter. With this triathlon and the training opportunities beforehand, we give older people a goal to train for. That can be just the incentive they need to stay active during the winter months!"

Exercise at your own pace and level

The focus of the sporting morning was not on performance, but on fun, socializing, and exercise. After swimming, participants enjoyed coffee, tea, and snacks to recharge their batteries for the next activities: cycling and walking. The name "Foar elkenien" says it all: everyone can participate at their own level and pace. It was a successful sporting start to the new year.

Young and old on the move High Five Sportstimulering organizes activities for a healthy lifestyle throughout the year. For information about the activities on offer, visit www.tytsjerksteradiel.ynbeweging.frl.
