Participation environmental law

The Environment Act encourages you to be approached more actively and earlier to help think about new plans in your neighborhood. In what way that happens may vary.

When and for whom is participation mandatory?

Governments are required to engage in participation when preparing an environmental vision, environmental plan, environmental program, project decision, environmental ordinance and water board ordinance.

An initiator (the one with a plan or idea) is encouraged to participate, but is not always obliged to do so. The municipal council can designate cases in which participation is mandatory. These are activities that do not fit within the environmental plan and are also on the council' s list of advisory rights. In order to make the initiative possible, it is therefore mandatory to engage in participation prior to the permit application.

Participation Policy

Tytsjerksteradiel's participation policy explains how residents, entrepreneurs and organizations can participate and think about plans and policies for the municipality, core or neighborhood. In addition, the participation policy states how you, as an initiator, can use participation for your plans.
