Region Deal Northeast Fryslân II

18 million euros for housing, accessibility and entrepreneurship

In February of this year, it was announced that the State is allocating a contribution of €18 million to the region. This amount, supplemented by the same amount of own resources and investments of local governments, will make it possible to work on three themes in the region in the coming years: housing, accessibility and entrepreneurship. This is a continuation of years of cooperation between four municipalities (Achtkarspelen, Dantumadiel, Noardeast-Fryslân and Tytsjerksteradiel) and the province of Fryslân.

From plan to practice

The signing kicks off the implementation of the Region Deal, which runs from 2026 to 2030. In the coming months, the concrete projects - in which we as a region see the added value of regional cooperation - will be further elaborated. The focus is on:

• Noflik wenje: We accelerate the construction of housing in our villages, improve the care and well-being of residents and work to create a living environment where people enjoy living and working.
• Ferbining: We are working on good connections and places where people can easily transfer from bicycle, bus or car (mobility hubs), so that our region becomes more accessible and it remains pleasant to live and work.
• Ûndernimmend: We strengthen local businesses by making schools and entrepreneurs work together better sustainably and smartly. We help people pursue lifelong learning and development to take advantage of opportunities.

Collaboration as the key to success

What is a Region Deal?

A Region Deal is a collaboration between central government and regions to increase broad prosperity where it is needed most. In addition to financial support, strengthening local cooperation is an important goal. The Regio Deal Northeast Fryslân II builds on the earlier deal (2020-2025) and provides a structural impetus for the region.
