Remco Hamstra wins first stage of Tytsjerksteradiel
Remco Hamstra from Surhuisterveen found the first lapwing egg of Tytsjerksteradiel on March 8, 2026. He found the egg at 4:20 p.m. east of Hurdegaryp. There was one egg in the nest.
This is the second time he has found the first lapwing egg in Tytsjerksteradiel. Remarkably, Remco found the egg on exactly the same day in 2024, namely March 8, 2024.
Hamstra has been active as a ljipaaisiker for more than 20 years. In the past, he also found the first lapwing egg in the municipalities of Waadhoeke and Achtkarspelen. Hamstra is a board member of the Vogelwacht Augustinusga/Surhuizum birdwatching association and has been volunteering for years to protect meadow birds.
On Tuesday afternoon, a small ceremony was held at the location where the egg was found. Remco Hamstra received a finder's fee of €15 and a certificate from Mayor Kanter Breuker.
