Damage caused by subsidence

Soil subsidence can be caused by natural processes such as shrinking peat, prolonged drought and changing groundwater levels. But also by human activity. For example by agriculture and industry, water level management or gas extraction. Soil subsidence can cause annoying damage to your home.

In Tytsjerksteradiel, there are concerns in the region of Eastermar that subsidence caused by gas extraction is causing damage to homes and properties.

I think I am suffering from subsidence caused by gas extraction. What can I do?

You can report your damage to the Mining Damage Commission. This committee investigates whether the damage was caused by mining activities. The committee also arranges any damage settlement.

We would like to know if our residents are suffering damage from subsidence caused by gas extraction. This will give us a picture of how big the problem is and where it is occurring. Have you reported to the Mining Damage Commission? Then please report it to us as well. This is entirely voluntary.
