Do you want to demolish a structure or part of a building? In most cases, you will need to submit a demolition notification. Submit the demolition notification at least 4 weeks before you start demolishing. In some cases, you can do this 5 working days before demolition.

Submit your demolition notification

In some cases, you need an environmental permit for demolition, for example if you are going to demolish a monument.

Check whether an environmental permit is required

Use the Permit Check in the Omgevingsloket to check whether you need to apply for a permit or submit a demolition notification.

How much does it cost to submit a notification?

Making a report is free of charge.

How far in advance should I submit a notification?

Submit the demolition notification at least 4 weeks before you start work. In the following cases, it can be a minimum of 5 working days in advance:

  • in case of immediate necessity for demolition in the event of a calamity;
  • in case of demolition work when adapting homes (housing associations);
  • for residents who are going to remove asbestos themselves in their home, garden or storage room.

A demolition notification is required if:

  • the amount of construction and demolition waste released is estimated at 10 m³ or more.

Report start and end of demolition work

Before you start demolition work, you must notify the municipality. Please do this at least 2 working days in advance.

When you have finished the work, you must also report this to the municipality. Do this no later than the first working day after you have finished the work.

Include documents with a report

With the demolition notification, you sometimes have to submit one or more reports. For example:

  • (if you expect asbestos to be released) an asbestos inventory report from a certified asbestos inventory company. This is mandatory for any structure built before 1994;
  • A demolition safety plan: for safety at the demolition site;
  • a report of an acoustic investigation: to limit noise pollution;
  • a report of a vibration investigation: to limit nuisance from vibrations.

During the Permit Check in the Environmental Portal, you will see which documents you need to report your demolition work.
