Closure of ’t Kruirêd in Mûnein
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, it was announced that ’t Kruirêd Elementary School in Mûnein would close as of August 1, 2026. Due to a declining enrollment that has now fallen too low, parents have decided to enroll their children in other schools after the summer break. This means that elementary education in Mûnein will come to an end after this school year.
This is a major change for students, parents, staff, and the village. After all, a school is more than just a place where children learn; it is also a familiar part of the community. The Adenium School Board is exploring the possibility of a merger between ’t Kruirêd and Sinnehonk in Aldtsjerk and is helping students and staff find a suitable new home.
The closure demonstrates how quickly changes in student enrollment can impact a school’s future. This news underscores the importance of the process that school boards, the municipality, and the local community in Trynwâlden are undertaking: looking ahead together, carefully preparing decisions, and working step by step to ensure high-quality, accessible, and future-proof elementary education.
