Sports for Everyone

Since July 1, we have been participating in the “Uniek Sporten Centraal Loket” pilot program.
This service helps residents with physical disabilities obtain suitable sports equipment, such as a sports wheelchair or handbike, more quickly and easily.
The pilot program provides a clearer, fairer, and more efficient system for borrowing sports equipment.

What is the pilot about?

The pilot is testing a new nationwide procedure for distributing sports equipment. With this procedure, we ensure:

  • bringing together specialized knowledge
  • reducing disparities among municipalities
  • reducing turnaround times
  • Reuse of Sports Equipment
  • Equal opportunities for everyone to participate in sports and physical activity.

What does this mean?

  • There is a single one-stop shop where residents can go for advice and to submit an application.
  • Applications are reviewed with the help of independent expert advice,
  • The municipality uses a fixed standard amount of €8,400 per 7 years for sports equipment.
  • For more expensive medical devices, there is a nationwide safety net to ensure that residents are not faced with high costs.
