Family Tree Research

Would you like to know more about your family's history? Then you can do your own research (genealogy research) in the municipal archives in our reading room.

To do so, make an appointment with the archivist at 14 0511.

What does it cost?

Doing your own research in our reading room is free. Would you like us to do the genealogical research for you? Then that costs € 15.20 for each quarter of an hour of research time.

Making an A4-size copy costs €0.05 each.

What resources are available?

Our genealogical file consists mainly of:

  • Civil Registry records from 1811 onward:
    • birth certificates through 1915;
    • marriage certificates through 1940;
    • death certificates through 1965;
  • population registers from 1849 to 1914;
  • family charts from 1914 to 1939;
  • housing maps from 1914 to 1957;
  • Censuses of 1808, 1829, 1839, 1849 et seq.

Our Civil Registry records are also available on the Internet. For birth certificates, marriage certificates and death certificates, see the website Alle Friezen. Soon the population registers from 1849 onwards will also be available on this site.
