Tink derom: mud on 'e dyk!

Harvest time has begun and that means crowds in the fields and mud on the roads. Farmers and contractors are hard at work and sometimes you can literally see it on the asphalt. Although mud sounds less spectacular than an autumn storm, when combined with rain it can create dangerous situations.

Release throttle and do not brake

Because do you actually know what to do when you drive into a muddy curve? Or if you see one of those yellow warning signs on the shoulder of the road? Moderate your speed and be alert. Do you end up skidding? Release the gas, keep steering in the direction you want to go, and: don't brake.

Mud Campaign

Every autumn, the Regional Organ for Traffic Safety Fryslan (ROF) conducts the mud campaign. With banners and radio commercials via Omrop Fryslân and road users are urged to slow down and pay attention when there is mud on the road.

In our municipality, too, we feel that attention to this campaign is important. The campaign focuses not only on motorists, farmers and contractors are also actively approached. They receive a practical leaflet with clear information about their responsibility, such as what to do if mud is left on the road and how to clean it up. In this way, the ROF focuses on cooperation between road users and agricultural traffic for safe traffic.
