Moving abroad
Are you moving abroad?
- Before you leave the Netherlands, report your emigration to the municipality.
- You are emigrating if you are abroad for at least 8 months within 1 year.
- These 8 months do not have to be consecutive.
If you live with multiple people at one address and not everyone is moving with you, then everyone who is moving must visit the municipality in person. This also applies to children under the age of 18.
How does it work?
You must submit the notification within 5 days before your departure from the Netherlands. You can report your departure online. Or make an appointment to visit us. You must be registered in Tytsjerksteradiel for this.
The municipality may require you to appear in person and provide additional information about your departure.
If you move abroad, you must arrange many things before leaving the Netherlands. It is often difficult to do this later from another country. Check what you need to arrange in the Netherlands with the Dutch government. This will save you a lot of time and effort.
You must notify the municipality of your departure no more than 5 days in advance. Please provide the following information:
- the names and dates of birth of family members who are emigrating with you
- your old address
- your new address
- the date of emigration
Please note
You will be deregistered on the day you report your move (so not on your actual departure date).
You can report your emigration online if the emigration applies to all residents of the address. Otherwise, you must report the emigration in person at the municipality. You can make an appointment for this.

Reporting a move abroad by an authorized representative is not possible.

Are you abroad?
You can often report your departure online from abroad. In some countries this is not possible due to security reasons of that country. If you are unable to report your departure online, please report your departure in writing using the emigration form. Complete this form and send it to gemeente@t-diel.nl.
