Report a change of address

Are you moving?

  • Notify us if you move to or within the municipality.
  • Do this no later than 5 days after you have moved. You can also submit it 4 weeks before the moving date.
  • Are you moving to another municipality? Please notify your new municipality. You do not need to deregister with us.

DigiDReport your change of address

Report your change of address on time. If you are late in reporting it, this may have consequences for, for example, your rent allowance, student finance, parking permit, municipal taxes or benefits.

Submit in writing

Prefer to submit your change of address in writing? You can do so with the change of address form. Don't forget to include a copy of your identification.

If you are unable to report the relocation digitally or using the form, please call 14 0511 to explore the possibilities.

Moving abroad

If you move abroad from the municipality, you must notify the municipality of this no later than 5 days before your departure. This is called emigration registration. Different rules apply to emigration. See the Moving Abroad page for what you need to do.

What do I need to do?

As soon as the change of address has been reported, you will automatically receive a confirmation in your mailbox. We will adjust the data on your moving date.

You can view your (changed) details on MijnOverheid. It may take a few working days for the new data to be visible.

Moving date

Are you reporting the day of your move 4 weeks in advance? Or within 5 days after you moved? Then we will use the date you provided as the moving day. So you can indicate the moving date yourself, if you do so on time. Did you move more than 5 days ago? Then the day you report it is the moving date.

  • Example 1
    You notify us on May 15th that you will be moving on June 1st. We will register you at the new address as of June 1st.
  • Example 2
    You notify us on August 15th that you moved on August 1st. In this case, the move occurred more than 5 days ago. Therefore, we will register you at the new address as of August 15th.

Registering for a short stay in the Netherlands

If you are coming to the Netherlands from abroad to work or study, you will need a citizen service number (BSN) for your dealings with the Dutch government. More information can be found on the website of the national government and is intended for people who will not stay in the Netherlands for longer than 4 months.

Who is allowed to report the change of address?

The following persons are authorized to report a change of address:

  • cohabiting spouses/registered partners for each other (only if they both move to the same address);
  • the parent, guardian, or caregiver for minor children;

Agencies that need your relocation details

The municipality will pass on your change of address to the authorities that need this information to perform their legal duties. The authorities that will be notified include: SVB (Social Insurance Bank), Tax Administration, Water Board, and health insurers and pension funds to which people are affiliated.

Not married/no registered partnership

Unmarried and non-registered partners cannot report a change of address for each other. In this case, you must both report the change of address separately online. Or both come in person at the same time.

How much does it cost?

Reporting a change of address is free of charge.
