The way we heat our homes is changing. Throughout the Netherlands we are moving step by step from natural gas to sustainable and future-proof heat sources. In Tytsjerksteradiel, too, we are preparing for this heat transition. This means that everyone will have to insulate their homes and buildings better and heat in a different way.

So we are all getting rid of natural gas. For homes, for example, this means heating your home with a heat pump and cooking with electricity. This is already happening in new construction: no more gas lines are being laid there.

Natural gas-free living in Garyp: the story of Remco and Geartsje

Remco and Geartsje enjoy living with their family in Garyp. During a thorough renovation of their home, they immediately made sure they could get rid of the gas. An important step was to insulate the house well.
