The way we heat our homes is changing. Throughout the Netherlands we are moving step by step from natural gas to sustainable and future-proof heat sources. In Tytsjerksteradiel, too, we are preparing for this heat transition. This means that everyone will have to insulate their homes and buildings better and heat in a different way.

So we are all getting rid of natural gas. For homes, for example, this means heating your home with a heat pump and cooking with electricity. This is already happening in new construction: no more gas lines are being laid there.

Remco and Geartsje enjoy living with their family in Garyp. During a thorough renovation of their home, they immediately made sure they could get rid of the gas. An important step was to insulate the house well.

Money for insulation

The first step to natural gas-free living is to insulate and conserve energy. This increases the comfort of your home and reduces energy consumption. Which saves on your energy bill. Subsidies are currently available to insulate your home.
