Extract and certificate of civil status

What is the difference between a copy and an extract?

Copy

An official copy is an official copy of the certificate, stamped by the municipality. An official copy contains exactly the same information as the original certificate.

Extract

An excerpt is a current summary of the deed. You never receive the deed itself; it remains the property of the municipality and is stored in the registers of the civil registry.

International extract

An extract of civil status is available internationally. In some cases, you must have the extract translated yourself by a sworn translator.
