Attestation de vita (international proof of being alive)

An Attestation de Vita is an official international declaration that you are alive. You apply for it at the municipality where you are registered. 

Requesting Attestation de Vita

You apply for an Attestation de Vita in person at City Hall. Make an appointment for this. You will receive the document immediately.  

What do I bring to the appointment?

Please bring the following with you to your appointment at City Hall:   

  • a valid ID; 
  • cash or a bank card. 

Are you applying for the Attestation de Vita for a pension fund? If so, you will also need the original letter from the pension fund. 

What does it cost?

An Attestation de Vita costs €17.10.

An Attestation de Vita is free if you can show that you need it for your retirement. Bring your pension letter with you for this purpose.
