Children of De Poppestien crowned vegetable champion

Celebration at the De Poppestien location of Kinderwoud childcare in Burgum. The children were visited by Wendy Wortel and were crowned vegetable champions. Together with Wendy and High Five Sportstimulering, they then played a game. Alderman for Health, Caroline de Pee, presented all the children with a vegetable box that they filled themselves with vegetables. The box contains vouchers from ALDI for (snack) vegetables. The reason for the visit is the completion of the vegetable box project.

3 months of vegetables every day

In Tytsjerksteradiel, 830 children who attend childcare participated in the vegetable box project. For the past three months, they were offered different types of vegetables every day at childcare.

In the vegetable box project, vegetables are offered as a snack in a fun and surprising way. Research from the University of Maastricht has shown that after three months, children not only recognize more different types of vegetables, but also enjoy them more. This makes eating vegetables not only more fun, but also much tastier!

JOGG

'With the support of JOGG, we are working on a healthy living environment for children in which making healthy choices becomes the norm. A project such as the vegetable boxes contributes to this,' says alderman Caroline de Pee.
