Festive presentation of the new edition of Doarpskuierkes

On Thursday, April 25, alderman Tytsy Willemsma presented the new edition of the booklet Doarpskuierkes Tytsjerksteradiel. The booklet has been updated once and expanded with six routes and four special station routes. During the presentation in Stania State in Oentsjerk, there were many interested parties from the field of recreation and tourism. “As a municipality, we are proud that the beautiful hiking routes have been bundled in a new booklet that has been created together with our partners from the municipality,” said alderman Tytsy Willemsma.

In 2010 the first edition of the booklet Doarpskuierkes with 15 routes was released. Because of the Central Axis a number of planned routes could not be realized. Therefore, it was already decided then to issue the booklet again after the realization of the Central Axis. 2000 copies of this booklet were printed, almost all of which have been sold over the years. In the meantime, things have changed in the area of walking: Friesland now has a wonderful network of hiking nodes. The routes in the booklet therefore also had to be converted to junctions.

The new booklet: 'doarpskuierkes', everything that makes Friesland beautiful

Tytsjerksteradiel has sandy, peaty, and clay soils. This means that this municipality offers all landscape types that occur in Friesland. Hence the subtitle: everything that makes Friesland beautiful. The new booklet has been expanded with six routes. In addition to the routes in the central axis area, routes have been added for Earnewâld, Suwâld, and Hurdegaryp/Tytsjerk.

Station routes

New are the bonus routes: from Hurdegaryp station, the junctions for various long-distance walks to Camminghaburen or Leeuwarden station are included. The other way is also possible: to Feanwâlden station through the Bûtefjild. The booklet with the 'doarpskuierkes' (village walks) has been popular in recent years as a walking guide for residents and as a gift. The bonus routes offer a plus for walkers who like to walk longer distances from a station and for residents and tourists from Leeuwarden.
