Students from 't Partoer plant trees during National Tree Planting Day
Students from group 8 of OBS 't Partoer from Burgum planted trees together with alderman Berber van Zandbergen during the National Tree Planting Day. They also jointly raised the National Tree Planting Day flag.
"By planting trees together with the children, they learn about the importance of trees for the environment, such as producing oxygen, capturing CO2, and providing habitat for animals," explains alderman Van Zandbergen. "Arbor Day is an opportunity to make children aware of the importance of trees for a healthy living environment and to actively involve them in nature conservation and environmental protection."
The theme of Arbor Day this year is 'Growing up with trees.' Children who grow up in green spaces move more, experience less stress, breathe cleaner air, can concentrate better in school, and have more social contacts. Arbor Day is an annual event celebrated in the Netherlands to highlight the importance of trees for nature and the environment.
