Registration of new political party

Do you want to participate with a political party in the 2026 municipal elections? Then you can register the party name (appellation) at the central electoral committee of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. The name will then appear at the top of the list of candidates and on the ballot paper.

Conditions

Parties, which are an association with full legal capacity, may have their names registered. A notary prepares a deed with articles of association. In addition, the association must be registered with the Chamber of Commerce. To know exactly what to do, read the Information Brochure on Political Parties.

To participate, submit a written request. This must include the following documents:

  • Request for registration of a designation
  • Copy of the notarized deed of incorporation
  • Proof of payment of deposit
  • Statement from the political party who is authorized to conduct business. The statement is included in the Request for Registration of Designation form.

The complete request must be submitted to the central election office of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel no later than December 22, 2025. To do this, you will make an appointment. You can make an appointment by sending an email to verkiezingen@t-diel.nl or calling 14 0511

Security deposit

For the registration of the party name you pay €112.50. You will get this money back, when a valid candidate list is submitted.

Assessment of request

The central electoral committee evaluates the registration request. They decide whether the party name can be registered.

Do you disagree with the decision? Then you can file an appeal. You can do this at the Administrative Law Division of the Council of State. The appeal must be submitted in duplicate, within 6 days after publication of the decision.

Participate with blank list

Unnamed parties can participate with a blank list. More information is on the Electoral Council website .

National party name (pass-through)

Is the party name already registered for the House of Representatives or Provincial Council? Then the name can often be used in municipal elections. In that case, no registration needs to be applied for.
