Remco Hamstra finds 'first lapwing egg' of Tytsjerksteradiel

Remco Hamstra from Rottevalle found the first lapwing egg of Tytsjerksteradiel on Friday, March 8. He found the egg at 8:15 am in a meadow near Skûlenboarch.

Hamstra has been an avid lapwing egg seeker for 20 years. Together with his partner Herman Smedes, he previously found the first lapwing egg in the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel. Hamstra was also the finder of the first lapwing egg in the municipalities of Waadhoeke and Achtkarspelen in the past. Hamstra is on the board of the Vogelwacht Augustinusga/Surhuizum Birdwatching Association.

On Friday afternoon, a small ceremony was held at the edge of the meadow. Remco Hamstra received a finder's fee of 15 euros and a certificate from Mayor Jeroen Gebben.
