Steyn Land is quitting in October, are you too?
Singer Steyn Land from Harkema is taking on the challenge: He will quit smoking on October 1st. With this, he is taking the lead in the Stoptober campaign of the municipalities of Tytsjerksteradiel and Achtkarspelen. The municipalities are conducting the campaign together with GGD Fryslân. Aldermen Jelle Boerema from Achtkarspelen and Caroline de Pee from Tytsjerksteradiel received the first campaign poster today from Fokke Walinga from GGD Fryslân. This was in the presence of Steyn Land, who can be seen on the poster.
Persevere together
Steyn Land has been a well-known name in the Frisian music scene since 2023. With more than 450,000 streams on Spotify and a top 11 listing in the Frisian top 100, he ensures that every party tent goes wild. Building a party is no problem for Steyn, but this is a new challenge. Steyn Land: “I've wanted to quit smoking for a while, so this is a good stick behind the door for me. I hope I can be an example to others and that we can all stick to it together.”
Quitting smoking during Stoptober increases success
"As municipalities, we are working on a living environment where our youth can grow up happy and healthy. Smoking causes many health problems later in life. With this campaign, we challenge as many people as possible to quit smoking, just like Steyn," says de Pee. Boerema adds: "By participating in Stoptober and not smoking for 28 days, the chance of quitting for good increases fivefold. We think it's great that Steyn is taking on this challenge and wish him the best of luck! We hope many will follow his example."
