Ceremonial groundbreaking for 55 homes at ’t Súd in Hurdegaryp
On Thursday in Hurdegaryp, a symbolic step was taken in the development of the new residential neighborhood ’t Súd. Together with WoonFriesland, the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel planted a willow tree at the construction site to mark the start of construction on 55 new homes.
This week, WoonFriesland began construction on the first 16 social housing units in the development. In doing so, the social housing provider is making a direct contribution to expanding the housing supply in Hurdegaryp. By planting the tree, the municipality and the housing association are emphasizing their joint commitment to providing sufficient, sustainable, and future-proof housing in the region.
“Just as this tree is growing here, a new community is taking root here as well. In this area, we’re building 55 new homes, but we’re also building stories, connections, and a place where people can feel at home,” says Councilwoman Berber van Zandbergen enthusiastically.
The wichter tree symbolizes a connection to the land, traditions, and a strong sense of community. The tree in Hurdegaryp is the first in a series of wichter trees that will be planted in several villages in Tytsjerksteradiel in the coming months.
Gerrit Breeman, director of WoonFriesland: “With these 16 homes, we are helping to provide quality, affordable housing in Hurdegaryp, in an attractive location with plenty of green space and water. We expect to be able to hand over the keys to their new homes to 16 households here next year.”
