Wiebe Hietkamp finds the first lapwing egg of Tytsjerksteradiel

Wiebe Hietkamp from Burgum found the first lapwing egg of Tytsjerksteradiel on Saturday, March 15. He found the egg at 11:05 am near Lytse Geast. The nest consisted of only one egg.

Hietkamp has been an avid ljipaaisiker (someone who searches for lapwing eggs) since the age of 10. However, this was the first time he found the first lapwing egg of Tytsjerksteradiel. Hietkamp is a volunteer at the Burgum Bird Watch.

On Monday afternoon, there was a small ceremony at the edge of the meadow where the egg was found. Mayor Tineke Schokker presented Wiebe Hietkamp with the finder's fee of €15 and a certificate.
