The Tile Taxi is coming!

A green garden is good for biodiversity. That is why the Tile Taxi is driving through the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel again this year.

A green garden has great advantages. Rainwater can seep into the ground more easily, preventing the sewer from overflowing. More plants and trees provide more shade and coolness on hot days. It ensures cleaner air and more life. Birds, insects and other animals depend on a green living environment.

A green garden is therefore good for biodiversity. That is why the Tile Taxi is driving through the municipality again this year! We will collect your tiles from your home for free. As a thank you, you will receive a bag of native flower seeds.

How does it work?

  • Offer a minimum of 1m² and a maximum of 20m² of tiles.
  • Only offer tiles, pavers, and edging and no other rubble.
  • The tiles must come from your own property and not from another location.
  • We only collect tiles where plants or grass will replace them, not new paving.
  • The Tile Taxi is only for residents of the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel, not for companies and other organizations.

How do I offer the tiles?

  • Place the tiles the day before collection day from 4:00 PM at the location you have provided to us, and no later than 7:00 AM on the collection day.
  • Create stacks with a maximum width of 1.20 m and a height of 60 cm.
  • Place the tiles on the sidewalk at the street side, preferably on the corner of the street. Not on the grass, too close to cars, or under a tree or lamppost, because the Tile Taxi's grabber cannot reach them there.

What does the municipality do with the tiles?

We use the collected tiles for repair work on sidewalks. We process the remaining tiles into grit for, for example, concrete or foundation material and in roads.
