Climate Resilience
The earth is warming and the climate is changing. Temperatures are rising. There is more chance of extreme rainfall, heat waves and longer, dry periods. Drought is causing the soil to sink in some places in the Netherlands. The sea level is rising and there is more chance of flooding. We in the Netherlands must prepare for the risks of the changing climate. We must make our environment climate-proof.
Flooding
The annual amount of precipitation is increasing. Especially the number of short and heavy showers is also increasing. These short heavy showers cause the sewer system to be heavily burdened. This is often the case in summer and especially in built-up areas. In this environment, the water cannot sink into the ground.
What can you do yourself to prevent flooding?
