Climate resilience

The earth is warming up and the climate is changing. Temperatures are rising. There is a greater chance of extreme rainfall, heat waves, and longer, dry periods. Due to drought, the soil is subsiding in some places in the Netherlands. The sea level is rising and there is a greater chance of flooding. We in the Netherlands must prepare for the risks of the changing climate. We need to make our environment climate-proof.

Flooding

The annual amount of precipitation is increasing. In particular, the number of short and heavy showers is increasing. These short, heavy showers put a heavy load on the sewer system. This is often the case in the summer, especially in built-up areas, where the water cannot seep into the ground.

What can you do yourself to prevent flooding?
