Passport or identity card lost or stolen

Have you lost or had your passport or identity card stolen? Then report the loss. Your passport or identity card is then immediately invalidated. 

The declaration is final. It cannot be reversed. If you find/recover your passport or identity card afterwards, you cannot use it again.

What happens to my missing person report?

Your passport or identity card is registered as missing and therefore invalid. This reduces the chances of fraudulent use of the document.

What should I do if I recover my passport or identity card?

Have you already reported the loss to us? Then hand in your passport or identity card to the municipality. It has been invalidated after the loss. You can therefore no longer use it once you have recovered it.

I am unable to report the missing person online. What now?

Then make an appointment at City Hall as soon as possible to apply for a new passport or identity card. You can do this online or at the counter. You can then also report the loss immediately. 

Make an appointment to apply for a passport or identity card at the front desk. You can also call for an appointment by calling 14 0511.

Note

You cannot file a missing person report for another person.

I lost my passport/identity card abroad. What now?

If your passport or identity card is lost or stolen abroad, report it to the local police. With the foreign official report, you can complete the Statement of Missing Persons at the municipality after returning home and apply for a new passport or identity card. 

Report to the Dutch embassy or consulate that your passport or identity card has been lost or stolen and request an emergency document here.
